AUDITS -- Review of Compliance With the RulesWhat HappensAuditors visit operating managers and their organizations and staff to determine whether or not money is used properly and for the purposes for which it was made available by Congress. Agency heads also have an interest in proper internal management of their agencies. There are two basic types of audits:
WhyCongress and senior managers have a need to make sure that the taxpayers' money is used as Congress intended.
Agency and Operating Component ActionsMake sure that they spend the money and take other actions according to the rules and desires of Congress.
